MidLINE project. Free medical support at home.
The aim of the project is to avoid inappropriate hospitalisation or unnecessary hospital admissions due to inadequate home symptom management of symptoms or, even worse, simply for the positioning of a stable venous access. Specifically, the aim is to guarantee the possibility of placing stable venous accesses (MidLINE type), while maintaining a safety standard as high as that of the hospital. In order to achieve this objective, it is essential to use ultrasound equipment and specific venous catheters, as well as provide the consumables needed for the procedure and trained staff. To date, no territorial structure has had the human, logistical and material necessary for the home approach to the patient for the placement of MidLINEs, and where human resources are available, they are not trained to a high enough specialist standard for this task. In this context, the ADAS Foundation, which has been providing home care for over 30 years and therefore has the necessary logistical facilities, can assign human resources, know-how and materials to a certain number of patients in residential or palliative care settings.
A project to promote and restore the knowledge and the landscape of the Alta Langa.
The project consists of recovering the knowledge, traditions and the constructed landscape of the Alta Langa. The craftsmen, who still know how to build with stone, wood and ancient mortars, work alongside the students on the properties to be reclaimed, teaching them the trade through practice “in the field”. This activity is carried out in Cascina Crocetta, a small village granted on a free loan basis from the Municipality of Castelletto Uzzone. Thanks to consultancy by the Conservation and Restoration Centre “La Venaria Reale”, Monesiglio Castle, suitably restructured, will become a “Community Castle”, functional to the needs and prospects of development and valorisation of the village. In point of fact, the project also deals with tourist promotion of the territory through pictorialist-style photography, urban design and the construction of brand identity and merchandising involving the work of a young Spanish artist, collectives and studios of designers and architects. Still with a view to promoting the territory and recovering traditions, a course is being arranged in conjunction with the University Apostolate and the University Pastoral Service of Turin, aimed at promoting the digitisation of all manual experiences in the context of traditional skills.
A project to promote education through art and the pursuit of gender equality in China, of exchange and training in Italy and Europe for young Chinese philanthropists on traditional values and experiences.
EWPF has successfully convened a series of international workshops, philanthropists’ summits, sustainability summits, roundtable conferences, bilateral forums, and other high-level international exchanges and meetings. The China-Italy Philanthropy Forum is a civil-society bilateral platform promoting cooperation between Italian and Chinese philanthropic networks. It has been established at the initiative of the TOChina Hub (University of Turin – T.wai – ESCP Business School). The Chinese partners for the 2022-2024 term are planned to be Peking University (China’s top academic institution) and the China Development Research Foundation (China’s top institutional foundation). The Forum is co-chaired by President Romano Prodi and Mr Lu Mai. EPWF is a strategic partner of CIPF.
Future CIPF projects supported by EWPF include:
– “Renaissance for Children II”, building on the first test of the “Renaissance” project, is planned to be implemented in several rural areas across China with more donations from other foundations besides two founding philanthropic families from 2021 to 2022. It is envisaged that the models and lessons from the two terms of this pilot project can be evaluated and eventually adopted by Chinese policy makers and other governmental and non-profit organizations who intend to carry out similar experiments or scale up similar programs to promote education through art in pursuit of gender equality in China.
– “Renaissance through Philanthropy” will be a series of tailored exchange and training programs held in Italy and across Europe for young philanthropists from China focusing on traditional values and experiences as well as cutting-edge concepts and technologies in philanthropy through a cross-cultural dialogue framework. The program is due to be launched in 2022 if international travel resumes fully.
Project for the restoration and valorisation of Villa Arconati.
The Augusto Rancilio Foundation is a non-profit cultural association founded in 1983 in memory of the architect Augusto Rancilio, who died tragically at the age of only 26. Alongside its original purpose of study and research in the fields of Architecture, Design and Urbanism – with particular attention to young people and their integration into the world of work – ARF now promotes the conservation and the promotion of its institutional headquarters, Villa Arconati-FAR in Bollate, a seventeenth-century Villa set amid greenery just outside Milan.
Here the Foundation operates in the local area by promoting cultural initiatives, national and international relations and links, as well as an important project for the restoration of the Villa and its garden. Its objective is not only to restore this heritage to the community, but to valorise today, in a contemporary and international perspective, its identity as a place of Architecture and the Arts, which in the past was known as the “Versailles of Milan”.
The restoration project proposes to give new life to forgotten areas of the Villa, including the Cantinone, a place of particular charm, unchanged over the centuries, which after the renovation will be open to the public and will host cultural activities and events promoting food and wine for the benefit of an area that is very committed to such matters.
The Villa is located in a favourable strategic position, halfway between Milan and the tourist area of the lakes, just 4 km from the new MIND centre housed in the former Expo 2015 headquarters and within a large green area containing aristocratic Villas, parks, waterways and cycle-touring routes.
Rivoli Castle. Art and nature. A project to acquaint children and families with contemporary art and sustainability.
Rivoli Castle’s Education Department is offering the following project, pursuing the objective of promoting and disseminating the knowledge of contemporary art and culture, inspired by the principle of educating people about art through art.
The programme is designed to counteract the negative effects of the pandemic, created to offer new cultural opportunities and promote a different kind of cognitive development, increasingly eco-centric rather than anthropocentric; to engender fresh multi/species worldviews, through fresh narratives and different opportunity patterns.
It is thus a question of fostering emotionally meaningful relationships between children, young people and nature, with specific reference to the works of art at the Rivoli Castle, including Giuseppe Penone’s “Incidences of the Void”, which welcomes the public in the square of the Castle. Through the experiences offered, aspects of knowledge regarding the art of the present time and beyond are introduced, highlighting the importance of the educational function of art in the social dimension. The activities are aimed at encouraging a sense of belonging to a working team, enhancing the potential of the individual through creative activity.
The Education Department has a special focus on environmental environmental protection, recycling and recovery of materials, the central concern of many contemporary artists, who, through the use of non-conventional material, provide a ‘re-visioning’ of art history.
Un progetto di accessibilità e inclusione sociale dedicato a persone anziane e fragili del territorio piemontese. Terzo Tempo [Third Time]. Contemporary art and movement. A project of accessibility and social inclusion aimed at elderly and frail people in the Piedmont area.
The Sandretto Re Rebaudengo Foundation – a non-profit institution established in 1995 – has always championed initiatives that focus on the solidarity, life and the well-being of communities, recognising contemporary art and culture as the ideal context for promoting projects of real social utility. In connection with the Barolo en primeur auction, the Foundation has involved its Education Department, inviting it to devise a design project consistent with the project’s philosophy. The Education Department of the Sandretto Re Rebaudengo Foundation and its Accessibility and Inclusion Section design and implement activities for schools, young people, adults, teachers and families, as well as vulnerable and disabled people. The work of art is the cornerstone of the Foundation’s educational philosophy and methodological approach: the artwork is taken as the starting point for the public to reinterpret the content independently, proactively involved, in line with an idea of participation that considers the age groups and individual needs of people involved, especially those suffering from frailties. With the Terzo Tempo project, the intention is to promote and value the role of the elderly population, promote social inclusion and intergenerational relations, thus combatting loneliness, but also to consider ageing as a vital and creative moment of life. Accessibility and inclusion are the key words for all the Foundation’s activities, in the conviction that our cultural heritage is richer when it is truly shared by all of us.
Thesaurus Monviso Project. The active engagement of young people in the socio-cultural and environmental field.
The Thesaurus Monviso project aims to promote the active commitment of young people in the socio-cultural and environmental field, with projects, organisations and institutions already active in the Monviso Valleys area, in order to create virtuous synergies and build on what already exists, making the area more accessible, better known and more participated in by young people.
The project intends to facilitate collaborations and territorial partnerships with the cultural, social and environmental sectors in order to encourage the active participation of young people in the area, thus bringing different points of view and greater involvement. The project also intends to foster the skills necessary for the formation of an operational, competent and responsible youth group. Initiatives will be promoted to increase their abilities in the areas of peer education, socio-cultural planning and administrative management. To improve young people’s participation and the sense of belonging, new ways of interaction must be sought: a path of reflection and empowerment, rich in interactions with the community, to promote greater awareness and recognisability. The focus on the civic dimension allows the co-planning of socio-cultural and environmental activities to respond more concretely to needs, making communities healthier and more inclusive.
The territorial coordination will be made up of representatives of the partnership, the administrators of the municipalities involved and all other collaborators operating in the project. Using the participatory reflection approach, the idea is to acquaint the community with the real needs of young people, creating opportunities for debate and non-formal or institutional work.
Support project for pregnant teenagers in Hong Kong.
In 1986, a series of newspaper articles reported on the alarming number of teenage pregnancies in Hong Kong. This prompted Gary and Helen Stephens and Ranjan and Phyllis Marwah to set up Mother’s Choice. With their hearts devoted to service, love for the city of Hong Kong and the support of many in the community, they opened the doors to Mother’s Choice in 1987. The passion to provide loving, non-judgmental support to the many pregnant teenagers who had no one to turn to has been broadened to provide educational care for children without families and to be a voice of help for them. The vision of Mother’s Choice is bold, but by working together it can be achieved.
